TRAINING
Colt Starting
Starting your horse the right way by building a solid foundation with your horse so you can enjoy him for the rest of his life. Lanny's training consists of five days a week work in thirty day increments. By months end your horse will have a calm willing attitude. He will have been exposed to despooking on the ground and in the saddle, working at all gaits, have a solid backup, pivot on the forehand and the rear, pick up correct leads, side pass, and real trail experience.
Older Horses
Older horses who may need a correction in their training. Lanny focuses on what the horse needs, so you as a rider can ride with confidence and have fun.
Problem Horses
"I have never had a horse I can't fix."
No horse is without some kind of problem that can be annoying to the rider. Lanny can work with you and your horse to safely correct unwanted behavior. |

Despooking
Most problems that riders have in the saddle stem from problems not corrected on the ground. Lanny works extensively with your horse to overcome fears your horse has with scary objects and real life situations. Your horse will gain confidence and learn to look towards the rider for cues on how to react to different circumstances.

Testimonials
I was told about Lanny by a friend. I had a horse that I have had trouble loading for 1 1/2 years. After spending only 1 hr, my horse was loading and unloading!! He also showed me how to load and unload him!!! I was hooked!!! - Lanny, this quiet, tall man has a special way with horses.

Yoda, my beloved equine companion of 16 years, died of old age. In my search for another horse I answered an ad which described a 12 year old, sensible, prefectly mannered quarter horse. My sister and I made an appointment to see and ride this horse at a ranch in California and he seemed exactly as represented. I bought him, named him Leo, and had him shipped to Tucson.
Leo was probably drugged when I rode him that day because when I tried to ride him in Tucson he was resistant and would not go forward for the first two months. He also had extreme anger-management issues. I contacted Lanny Leach and worked hard with him to become Leo's leader. It is so rewarding and fun to have learned so much about working with Leo and Lanny has been honest, kind, respectful, patient and is a wonderful teacher and trainer. He is extremely safety conscious and has helped me turn Leo into the wonderful horse tht I now enjoy so much.
I just returned from my first horse camp out and had sent Leo to Lanny for a little more training and a refresher course for both of us before this trip. Leo was "one cute guy" as the original ad said he was...at last!!! Thank you Lanny!!!
I plan to continue lessons with Lanny as long as he will have us and will have Lanny help me find my next should anything happen to my "one cute guy".

That I should end up with a professional trainer like Lanny Leach when I was finally living a longtime dream to own and ride a horse was more than I ever expected. I came in to the horse world late in life, and trial & error, encouragement & advice from friends, and a horse that was incredibly tolerant of my ignorance, all contributed to my "launch" as a horse owner. With Lanny's training it all toook on a new dimension.
Lanny repeatedy emphasizes the rider's safety, and he shows with precision how your horse should stay within his boundaries and be respectuful of you and your space. It is fascinating to watch Lanny in the round-pen desensitizing and gentling a horse. Lanny's demonstration and explanations of the many dos and don'ts of horsemanship - the how-to as well as the importance of groundwork, how this carries over in the saddle, the how-to of keeping my horse "soft", etc. - make every training lesson so worthwhile. Lanny's training is helping me feel more and more comfortable maneuvering and round-penning my horse as well as loading him in the trailer. I don't think I'll ever stop taking these lessons as long as I have a horse and Lanny is available to train me!
I also consulted Lanny when I purhcased my second horse. It amazes me how Lanny could know so quickly that this horse and I would be such a good match! Whatever the horse may have lacked in his training, Lanny "fixed" in no time.
To Lanny I can only say: Thank you for your patience and perseverance with this rather slow learner. I so appreciate your approach, and I would recommend your training and clinics to anyone in a heartbeat.

Lanny is the most amazing trainer I have witnessed. I have seen him take a completely spooky horse that jumped at her own shadow and within three days he was standing on her back waving a tarp. He has worked with my horse and he now is soft in the mouth, round and collects beautifully! I recommend Lanny Leach for any training needs!

Lanny trained two horses for me and guaranteed they are not a lost cause. He worked with my three year old mare for 30 days and she is a dream to ride. Lanny worked with my mare on the ground and in the saddle. Now any one can ride her, she is a great trail horse and is very light on the bit. After one year I still use a snaffle bit on her.
One year later, Lanny trained my three year old pinto stud. My stud did not respect my space and was getting to be a handful. After only three days he was a changed horse. He respected my space and was already under saddle. Through Lanny's great knowledge and expertise, my pinto stud has a great future as a riding horse and stallion. I am sending my two year old half arab/quarter mix to Lanny next year.
I am writing this because I am very picky about leaving my horse in someone else's hands. After the testimony from my friends and seeing Lanny work with horses I was sure that he was the right trainer for my horses. Lanny also works with the owner so after the horse is back home the owner can enjoy his horse.
I do recommend Lanny very highly as a Trainer. There is no doubt in my mind.
Sincerely,
Very Satisfied Horse Owner

I bought my Paint, Blaze, when he was three months old. Blaze was my first baby that I raised on my own and it showed. He developed every bad habit you could think of. When it came time to ride him I was pretty nervous. I hired several trainers to work with him and some would try abusive techniques like poking him with safety pins to make hiim stop biting (didn't work) and other would hit him. In the end each of these trainers quit and told me the horse was ruined and was a huge liability to me. A friend of mine referred me to Lanny. I went over to his barn one morning and I am sure he could tell I was desperate. I truly thought this horse was a lost cause. Lanny fixed the biting in the first day! I was amazed. My whole barn was amazed! He became the talk of the barn over the miracle that was happening with Blaze. On the second ride Lanny was able to stand on my horse waving a rope with a bag on the end of it and Blaze just stood there. Over a period of two months Lanny created this wonderful horse that is a joy to ride. He was also able to retrain me and show me how to handle my horse. Blaze is now one of the best behaved horses at my barn and now I am trail riding a three year old! If you would have told me this would happen six months ago I never would have believed it. My gratefulness to Lanny is so immense. He truly saved my horse and me. Every time I get on Blaze I am grateful I met Lanny. i would recommend him to ANYBODY.
